Skiing in the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic really cannot  be compared with the Alps in terms of mountains, but here counts "small but fine". The Czech mountains are known more for the variety and cosines that the visitors will find. Lovers of winter sports have two hundred ski slopes at their disposal in Bohemia and Moravia, usually situated in the mountain ranges forming the country borders.

Cross country skiing, trekking

In the highest altitudes of the Krkonse ridge and plains, where mountain meadows alternate with undergrowth of scrub pine and make for wonderful views onto the surrounding landscape, the conditions are ideal for trekking. It is true, however, that the danger is present in these locations of an unexpected change in the weather. Marvelously maintained running tracks bisect the mountain slopes and valleys or wend their way through forests. You can find them in almost every winter resort.

Downhill skiing

Ski
centers are very well equipped with ski lifts and everyone can find the slope to suit them. The conditions are not only good for beginners. Ski courses, led by qualified instructors in both German and English, can be attended by children and adults.

Snowboarding

The regular ski slopes are available for snowboarding, but also specialized and professionally equipped snowboarding resorts. Several of these organize courses for snowboarders of all age categories.

Winter mountain resorts

Most of the winter resorts in Bohemia and Moravia are to be found in the national parks or protected provincial regions. The choice is indeed impressive. Anyone interested can choose the best known and most visited Krkonose, with its excellent infrastructure and equipment, or decide for the less famous ski resorts situated in the romantic corners of Sumava, Orlicke mountains, Jeseniky and Beskydy.
All the differences in the equipment of the centers and services on offer are reflected in the prices.
