The
Hotel
Hotel Ostrý (855 m el.) is located in the beautiful area of Zelezná Ruda
- the tourist center on the western part of the Sumava Mountains. The
Sumava Mountain National Park includes an extensive wildlife and protected
reserve of over 178.000 ha (440.000 acres) which has been designated as a
UNESCO biosphere reserve. Guests can enjoy hiking to Cerne, Certovo and
Laka (1096 m el.) walk or biking on the more then 500 km of bike paths
from Spicak Mountain to Královský hvozd.
Accommodation
The hotel offers a variety of room combinations that can accommodate guest
for their vacation or business needs. Each room comes fully equipped with
bathroom facilities and includes a phone and TV. There a 18 double
rooms and 5 four-bedded rooms with two bedrooms in each. To meet the
needs of handicapped guests, there are special accommodations including a
double rooms with additional space for added guests. For longer stays or
to meet additional travel needs, there is an apartment-like double rooms
that includes two bedroom, kitchenette, study room with extra beds on
request. On the 3d floor are nice rooms with shared shower and toilet.

Ostrý is a wonderfully appointed hotel with exceptional services that
will exceed the expectations of demanding clientele. The
handicap-accessible entrance to the hotel and restaurant includes an
intimate bar/lounge with seating capacity to twenty-five where breakfasts
and dinners can be served in buffet style. In addition, the restaurant
seats ninety people comfortably and has additional space for seventy
guests on a lovely summer terrace.
Surrounding
Other day excursions could include a visit to two castles - Kasperk and
Velhartice an the winter sports center of Spicak. From there, take a chair
lift up to Pancir (1214 m el). or follow the tourist route up marked paths
to the top. Fish in Otava river or hike along trails to pick up mushrooms
and huckleberries while enjoying the variety of experiences of nature
offered in Sumava Mountains. For the more adventurous, a trip to the
German border is only 2 km away. Enjoy the beautiful Bavarian Woods
National Park with its many bike paths. Stop and visit the quaint village
of Bayerisch Eisenstein. Outdoor activities to enjoy are a heated outdoor
pool with man-made waves and water jets and a miniature golf course. Also
close by is the Grosser Arber (1456 m el.) - a state of the art ski and
sports center where the World Championships in skiing took place.
