Guesthouse
Veronika
The guesthouse Veronika is situated in the center of the village called Račice.
It lies next to a cycle trail, about 2 km away from the village Štětí.
Račice is known as a water sport center (150 meters from the house).
The house offers comfortable and peaceful accommodation in apartments for 3
to 6 persons with a total capacity for 20 persons. Each apartment has a
kitchen, a living room, and a television set. Of course every apartment
also has its own bathroom with shower and toilet. The kitchen is equipped
with a fridge, a microwave, a water cooker, a stove, etc. The house is
suitable for families with children, sport lovers, business travelers, and
passersby. The house is open all year. We have seats on a terrace with a
barbecue, we have a lockable room for bicycles, and you can park safely in
the garage, or next to the house.
Sport
If you're a sports fan, then you will find many opportunities in the area
of the Račickeho channel. The range of sporting opportunities is
really large. For people who like to roller-skate, the area offers a 5km
long asphalt road with hardly any traffic. There is a rowing canal, where
you also can swim. There is a bowling house with 4 lanes. It is possible
to rent bicycles and scooters. You can play beach volleyball near the wine
cellar of “Medusa”, where you also can rent a ball or a net. You can
go fishing in the Račickeho channel, but you need a permit. Each year
the put out new fish. In winter when the canal is frozen, it is allowed to
fish in a self-made hole.
Tourism
Račice lies on the edge of of the Bohemian Central Highlands. The
mountain Říp with its “Roundabout” of “Sint Jiří” you
can visit. Roudnice nad Labem, with its wine cellars, and the castle
Lobkowicz invites you to visit his great gallery of modern art from the
19th and 20th centuries. There is a permanent exhibition of works by
Anthony Slavíček. Further goals that are often visited are the
castle Házmburk, built on a 418 meters high basalt hill near to
Libochovice. Then the Libochovický baroque castle in the romantic
landscape of "Poohří” surrounded by ornamental gardens, with
a French garden and an English park. Its stylish interiors with a valuable
collection of tapestries, and Oriental porcelain. A few miles further
away, in Budyni Nad Ohří, you’ll find an original Gothic castle,
surrounded by a moat, with beautiful wall paintings in hos golden room.
This hall from the early 20tth century, was built in the
Renaissance and romantic style. The Royal city of
Litoměřice in the middle of the Bohemian
Central Highlands, has a beautiful square with beautifully restored
facades of the mansions, and has a fortress. On the way back of your day
trip you can still visit Terezín. Traditionally a military fort, but now
better known as a concentration camp from WW II.
On the other side of Račice, towards Prague, you’ll find Melnik.
There you’ll find a church called “Saint Pavla”, with a crypt of
human bones. It was built from the remains of 10 to 15.000 humans from the
Gothic period. In the valley of Kokořín you’ll have the castle
Kokořín, you have the castle Houska, and many more.
The cities Mělník,
Štětí, Roudnice nad Labem and Litoměřice are connected by
a waterway. A steamer there, called “Porta Bohemica” invites you for a
cruise. They offer food and drinks, and on Saturday evening they have live
music. If you like you can bring your bicycle with you on the boat.
